To address the shortcomings of traditional electrolysis equipment—complexity and limited versatility—we have independently developed four types of membrane-free graphite anode electrolysis pilot-scale reactors. These reactors employ highly conductive, corrosion-resistant graphite anodes and eliminate expensive ion exchange membranes, catering to four distinct operating modes: batch reaction in box configurations, continuous flow in tubular systems, high specific surface area configurations with interdigitated fingers, and mass transfer enhancement via capillary gap electrode spacing. Their modular, disassemblable design facilitates rapid evaluation of how electrode spacing, flow channels, and electrode configurations affect electrolysis efficiency during pilot testing, demonstrating strong versatility. Pilot-scale validation has already achieved yields exceeding 85%, and further long-term performance verification is underway.
